South Korean President Lee Jae-myung visited Singapore on Monday, October 2, for a state visit, where he held talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. According to Ming Pao, the two leaders agreed to initiate negotiations to upgrade their free trade agreement and enhance collaboration in defense, advanced technology, and combating cyber fraud.
The governments of South Korea and Singapore signed five memorandums of understanding, focusing on sharing artificial intelligence (AI) policies in public safety, exploring AI technology in intellectual property, and strengthening cooperation in quantum, space, and satellite technologies.
During his visit, President Lee also met with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and attended a state banquet. Additionally, he participated in the AI Connect Summit, co-hosted by South Korea and Singapore.
