BOJ Maintains Rates Amid Intensified Risk Scenarios

The Bank of Japan (BOJ) decided to keep interest rates unchanged during its meeting on Thursday. According to NS3.AI, a proposal by board member Hajime Takata to raise the policy rate to 1.0% was not adopted. BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda explained that the central bank refrained from a rate hike due to intensified risk scenarios. Takata had initially made this proposal in January.
