U.S. President Trump Considers Strikes on Iran's Gas Power Plants, Reports Say

U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly threatened to target Iran's power infrastructure, specifically its gas power plants, according to Jin10. The International Energy Agency (IEA) data indicates that as of 2023, approximately 80% of Iran's electricity is generated from natural gas, with a production capacity of around 303,000 gigawatt-hours. From 2010 to 2023, Iran's total electricity generation surged by over 65%, making it the second-largest electricity producer in the region after Saudi Arabia, according to the IEA. One potential target for U.S. strikes is the Damavand Combined Cycle Power Plant, located southeast of Tehran. This facility is believed to have an installed capacity of about 3,000 megawatts, contributing to roughly 4% of Iran's total installed capacity in recent years.
