In January, global holdings of U.S. Treasury securities surged by $34.8 billion, reaching a total of $9.3 trillion, marking the second-highest level on record. According to BlockBeats, Japan, the largest foreign holder, increased its holdings by $39.8 billion, bringing its total to $1.2 trillion, the highest since July 2022.
The United Kingdom, the second-largest holder globally, saw its holdings rise by $29.3 billion to $895.3 billion, achieving the third-highest record. Additionally, the UK, as the third-largest holder, increased its holdings by $10.9 billion to $694.4 billion, the highest since September of the previous year.
Meanwhile, several European Union countries collectively raised their holdings by $8 billion, reaching a total of $2.1 trillion.
