The American Bankers Association (ABA) has dismissed a report from White House economists suggesting that prohibiting stablecoin rewards would increase bank lending by a mere $2.1 billion, or 0.02%. According to NS3.AI, ABA executives argue that the greater concern lies in the potential for deposit flight if yield-bearing payment stablecoins are permitted to expand. This disagreement has stalled the Clarity Act in the legislative process for several months. Patrick Witt noted that senators seem to have reached a compromise on significant stablecoin yield issues.
