On May 2, Jin10 reported that a representative stated major OPEC+ countries have reached a preliminary agreement to slightly but symbolically increase supply targets in June. This marks the first action by the organization following the unexpected exit of the UAE. According to the representative, seven countries led by Saudi Arabia and Russia will collectively increase production by 188,000 barrels per day next month. The agreement is set to be finalized at a video conference on Sunday. Last week, three representatives had already expressed this as their expectation. Similar to the planned increase this month, this move remains largely symbolic, as OPEC cannot practically implement the increase unless the Strait of Hormuz reopens and Persian Gulf exports resume.
