Chris Dixon, managing partner at a16z Crypto, announced on the X platform that Eddy Lazzarin has been promoted to general partner at a16z Crypto. According to ChainCatcher, Lazzarin joined a16z Crypto in 2019 as a data scientist and investment partner. Since 2023, he has served as the Chief Technology Officer, leading teams in engineering, data science, research, and security, and has been instrumental in developing the open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine, Jolt. Lazzarin has established a clear theoretical framework in token design and classification, contributing to the understanding of token operations, value accumulation, governance, and incentive mechanisms.
In his new role as general partner, Lazzarin will focus on portfolio and token strategy, as well as identifying, evaluating, and supporting emerging crypto networks and companies. This includes investment activities related to a16z Crypto's recently announced fifth crypto fund.
