MediaTek Prices $3.9 Billion Overseas Convertible Bond Offering With Nvidia and Alphabet

MediaTek said on the 31st that it completed pricing for a $3.9 billion overseas convertible bond offering, bringing in funding from Nvidia and Alphabet, Google’s parent company. According to ChainCatcher, Nvidia will take $3.5 billion, or about 90% of the deal, and the two companies said they will deepen cooperation going forward. The company said the transaction is the largest overseas convertible bond issuance in Taiwan’s capital market history and marks Nvidia’s first investment in a Taiwanese company. Under a joint statement, Nvidia will buy MediaTek’s overseas convertible bonds as part of an expanded partnership. MediaTek said it will use Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion and the recently announced NVHBM technology to improve communication among components in data centers. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the collaboration with MediaTek has expanded significantly and described it as one of the largest partnerships. MediaTek also said its processors will form the basis of next-generation Windows PCs.
