Fidelity Digital Assets Predicts Growth In Stablecoins And Tokenization By 2025

According to Odaily, Fidelity Digital Assets has released its 2025 outlook report, acknowledging the rapid growth of stablecoins while noting that they are not yet perfect products. The report anticipates further industry measures to address compliance risks, enhance cross-chain interoperability, and integrate with traditional financial systems. It suggests that stablecoins can coexist with tokenized bank deposits, improving the efficiency of tokenized securities trading while maintaining the U.S. dollar's status as the global reserve currency. Fidelity also identifies tokenization as the 'killer application' for 2025. The nominal value of on-chain tokenized real-world assets (RWA) has increased from $8 billion in 2023 to $14 billion, with projections to reach $30 billion by 2025. Fidelity states, "As institutions increasingly recognize the advantages of blockchain, including faster, cheaper, and relatively frictionless operability, we expect the growth of the tokenized asset class to continue expanding." The report also forecasts continued innovation in decentralized finance (DeFi) by 2025, with growth expected in dedicated blockchains, decentralized social media, DePIN, and crypto AI sectors. Fidelity believes that mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies will increase this year, asserting that it is "not too late" for investors to enter the field, despite Bitcoin recently surpassing $100,000. "In fact, we believe we may be at the dawn of a new era of digital assets, one that could last for years—if not decades—potentially seeing digital assets permeate various sectors—industries, technologies, domains, balance sheets, and even nation-states."
