According to PANews, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed that the North Korean hacker group known as 'TraderTraitor' is responsible for the theft of $1.5 billion in cryptocurrency from the Bybit exchange on February 21. The FBI stated that the hackers have converted some of the stolen funds into Bitcoin and dispersed them across multiple blockchain addresses, with plans to eventually launder the funds into fiat currency.
The FBI has urged RPC node operators, exchanges, DeFi service providers, and blockchain analysis firms to block addresses associated with TraderTraitor to prevent further circulation of the stolen assets. Additionally, the FBI has listed several Ethereum addresses linked to the group and called for cooperation between businesses and law enforcement agencies to combat North Korean cybercrime activities.
