U.S. Senators Debate Amendment on Cryptocurrency Promotion

According to Odaily, U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, a Democrat from Oregon, has proposed an amendment to the "Outlaw Big and Beautiful Bill" (OBBB) that seeks to prohibit elected officials from promoting or profiting from cryptocurrencies in which they have a financial interest. Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis from Wyoming opposes the amendment, arguing that it would significantly harm U.S. innovation and competitiveness, as well as hinder the government's ability to effectively understand and regulate digital assets.
