Wormhole Introduces Strategic Reserve and New Staking Mechanism

According to BlockBeats, the Wormhole team has announced the upcoming launch of Wormhole Reserve, a strategic reserve designed to accumulate both on-chain and off-chain protocol value to support the ecosystem's long-term development. As protocols and applications expand, related income and value will be injected into the reserve, directly linking the growth of Wormhole with the ecosystem. In addition, Wormhole 2.0 will introduce a 4% base staking yield along with governance incentives. Users can enhance their staking returns by actively participating in ecosystem applications and using Portal Earn. This mechanism will not increase inflation, maintaining a total supply of 10 billion tokens. To enhance market stability, Wormhole will implement a new bi-weekly unlocking mechanism starting October 3, 2025, replacing the traditional annual cliff period. This move aims to eliminate concentrated selling pressure, creating a smoother release curve and strengthening long-term alignment between investors and validator nodes. The adjusted release schedule covers guardian nodes, community and launch, ecosystem and incubation, and strategic partners, totaling approximately 64.7% of the token share. The foundation treasury and core contributors will maintain their original rules, with the foundation continuing daily releases and core contributors adhering to the annual lock-up agreement until October 2028.
