According to PANews, Google has filed a motion with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to dismiss an antitrust lawsuit brought by Penske Media regarding its AI search summaries. Google argues that AI Overviews are a legitimate product enhancement and that media outlets have the option to opt out of being indexed, thus not constituting a coercive action. This marks Google's third attempt to have the case dismissed. If the motion is denied, the lawsuit may proceed to a broader antitrust examination concerning AI and platform power.
