블록체인 전문가 잭XBT(ZachXBT)가 X를 통해 "67.7만 팔로워를 가진 암호화폐 트레이더 크립토로버(Crypto Rover)는 지난해 5월 한 밈코인 프로젝트와 토큰 홍보 계약을 논의했다. 당시 그는 프로젝트 측에 자신이 토큰을 홍보하면 펌프앤덤프(헐값으로 산 뒤 인위적으로 가격을 부풀린 다음 내다파는 행위)가 가능하다고 언급했다. 하지만 크립토로버는 당초 약속과 달리 해당 밈코인을 홍보하지 않았다. 이에 프로젝트 측에서 홍보대금을 돌려달라고 했지만 거절당했다. 또 그는 이 밈코인을 보유하겠다고 설명한 뒤 얼마 지나지 않아 매도했다. 그가 얻은 수익은 40 ETH 상당인 것으로 파악됐다"고 전했다.
