A Coinbase Commerce page asked users to enter their 12-word seed phrases in a web form, raising serious security concerns. Experts warned this could help scammers create fake sites and trick users into giving away full access to their crypto funds.

Coinbase has launched regulated crypto futures trading for users in 26 European countries, including Germany, France, and the Netherlands, offering contracts on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, as well as equity-index futures. Ripple Prime clients also gained access to these futures through Nodal Clear, expanding institutional participation in Coinbase’s regulated derivatives markets.

Coinbase has opened stock and ETF trading to all US users, letting people buy and sell shares alongside crypto in one app, 24 hours a day, five days a week, with no commission. The company also partnered with Yahoo Finance to let users trade directly from market pages and said it plans to offer tokenised stocks in the future.

Coinbase reported a surprise quarterly loss of US$667 million as trading revenue fell sharply due to a broad drop in crypto prices and weaker market activity. Growth in stablecoin operations provided some relief, but regulatory uncertainty and ongoing market weakness continue to pressure the company.

Coinbase has launched Agentic Wallets, crypto wallets that let AI agents trade, pay, and earn on the blockchain without human approval. The wallets use the x402 protocol, support multiple networks including Ethereum and Solana, and include built-in security controls to manage spending and protect private keys.

Nevada’s Gaming Control Board has sued Coinbase, saying its sports-based prediction contracts are unlicensed gambling and should be stopped in the state. Coinbase says the products are federally regulated markets, not gambling, and is challenging the action in court.

Bitwise has filed with the US regulator to launch the first ETF that would track Uniswap’s UNI token, giving investors access to it through a traditional investment product. The proposed fund would hold UNI directly, with Coinbase acting as custodian if the application is approved.

The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority banned a Coinbase ad campaign after finding it suggested cryptocurrency could ease cost-of-living pressures while downplaying investment risks. Bermuda plans to become the first fully on-chain national economy, using stablecoins like USDC for payments and partnering with Coinbase and Circle to build the infrastructure. Government offices, banks, and businesses will adopt digital wallets and tokenised systems to lower costs and improve financial access for residents.
