Malaysian tech entrepreneur Arsyan Ismail sold the top-level domain ai.com in April 2025 for a reported $70 million (approximately RM301 million at the time), earning him over RM300 million. Arsyan gained significant attention for this high-priced transaction, but in fact, he purchased the domain back in 1993, when he was only 10 years old, using his mother's credit card. He didn't spend the money on toys or games, but instead bought the ai.com domain for only $100 (approximately RM256 at the time). His mother was confused by the charge—she didn't know what a domain name was and simply saw a "mysterious" charge on her credit card statement. (Malay Mail)
