According to the "Cryptocurrency Losses 2022" report released by bug bounty platform Immunefi, hacking attacks and alleged fraud incidents will cost more than $3.9 billion in 2022. That's a 51.2% drop compared to 2021, when more than $8 billion was stolen. In 2022, most of the losses ($3.77 billion) came from hacks in 134 specific incidents. Fraudulent losses were estimated at $175 million across 34 fraudulent incidents during the same time period. Among them, DeFi attacks accounted for more than 80%, and DeFi losses increased from $2 billion in 107 incidents in 2021 to $3.18 billion in 155 incidents in 2022, an increase of 56.2%. Meanwhile, CeFi losses fell 87.3% from $6 billion in 9 incidents in 2021 to $768.8 million in 13 incidents in 2022. BNB Chain and Ethereum together accounted for more than half of all blockchain attacks, accounting for 63.3%. It was followed by Solana with 12 incidents, accounting for 6.7% of the total number of attacks in 2022.
