Catalan police in Spain have raided an illegal Bitcoin mining operation in San Vicente de Castellet, Barcelona, which was operating by illegally connecting to a high-voltage power grid. According to Endesa, the Spanish national electricity company, the amount involved in electricity fraud is estimated at €860,643, one of the highest amounts recorded in the region's industrial sector over the past year. Police found 88 ASIC miners inside the industrial building, directly connected to the grid via a three-phase system without meters or protection systems. A 34-year-old man appeared in court in Manresa on March 3 as a suspect. The legal proceedings currently focus solely on the alleged electricity fraud, and police are examining the seized equipment to determine the extent of the operation. (Criptonoticias)
