In Beijing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed questions regarding high-level exchanges between China and the United States. According to RTHK, spokesperson Lin Jian stated that both countries are maintaining communication concerning U.S. President Donald Trump's visit to China.
Lin noted that China is aware of the U.S. publicly clarifying media reports as inaccurate, emphasizing that the reports were entirely incorrect. He stressed that Trump's visit to China is unrelated to the navigation issues in the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, Trump mentioned that due to the conflict in Iran, he had proposed postponing his visit to China by about a month. U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin clarified that if the meeting between the U.S. and Chinese leaders is delayed, it is not due to concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz or trade disagreements.
