Henson Orser, former president of crypto custodian Komainu, has been named CEO of Dubai’s Cryptocurrency Regulatory Authority (VARA), The Block reports. VARA was established in March 2022 to license crypto operators and regulate the cryptocurrency and metaverse industries in the emirate of Dubai. Beginning in September 2020, Orser spent nearly two years as president of Komainu, a cryptocurrency custodian joint venture between Nomura, CoinShares and Ledger. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Nomura for approximately six years, including as Head of Sales, Americas Global Markets and Global Head of Wholesale SRM.
