Vietnamese authorities have detained executives of the ONUS crypto platform in connection with a suspected crypto fraud investigation.

Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security has detained several individuals linked to the ONUS cryptocurrency platform, accusing them of misappropriating investor funds through false advertising and coordinated trading activities. Investigators allege that the suspects manipulated token supply and demand and adjusted prices while maintaining centralized control over the market. The case involves multiple tokens, including VNDC, ONUS, and HNG, and police claim the operation involved billions of dollars, but have not disclosed detailed breakdowns of investor losses. Authorities have identified several individuals involved, including Vuong Le Vinh Nhan, who is associated with Vemanti and ONUS Pro's Singapore parent company, XPLOR; Tran Quang Chien, described by local reports as a platform technical administrator; and Ngo Thi Thao, a director at HanaGold Jewelry JSC. The investigation spans multiple cities and institutions, with over 140 people summoned for questioning. Vemanti has confirmed that it has hired US legal counsel and confirmed that Nhan is its chairman of the board and Chien is a board member. The ONUS platform claims to have over 7 million users and is backed by the US fintech company Vemanti Group, but CoinMarketCap shows that the ONUS token has a self-reported market capitalization of approximately $25 million. The platform has not yet issued an official statement regarding the allegations.
