Odaily Planet Daily reports that US President Trump released a summary of his fiscal year 2027 budget proposal on Friday, planning to request $1.5 trillion in defense spending, a record high in modern history. This preliminary plan did not disclose many key details, including the overall spending scale and long-term revenue projections. According to the proposal, $1.1 trillion will be allocated to the Department of Defense in the next fiscal year, with an additional $350 billion allocated for key munitions procurement, expansion of the defense industrial base, and other related matters. Trump had already pledged a $1.5 trillion defense budget request in January of this year, before the large-scale US attack on Iran. This budget also provides funding for several new government initiatives, including $30 million to support the newly established National Fraud Investigation Bureau, led by Vice President JD Vance, and $10 billion in mandatory funding for the Presidential Capital Management Program within the National Park Service, for construction and beautification projects in Washington, D.C.
