In his autobiography, *Binance Life*, CZ mentions early information about the "Binance Card," stating: "In February 2020, I was introduced to Swipe Wallet, a Philippine crypto startup. It was originally a wallet, but later transformed into a crypto debit card. Users pay with cryptocurrency, and merchants receive fiat currency, making it almost seamless for users. The idea itself wasn't new; the biggest challenge was finding a banking partner. For crypto enthusiasts, it eliminated the hassle of selling cryptocurrency for fiat currency, allowing cryptocurrency to be used directly for everyday payments. At the time, Swipe wasn't officially operational, but wanted to acquire users through a partnership with Binance. Founder Joseph suggested exchanging 80% of Swipe's shares for a partnership. He was clever; he later sold the remaining 20% to us for tens of millions of dollars. Subsequently, Binance launched the Binance Card in Europe, which quickly became a new favorite among users."
