Pantheon Macroeconomics economist has indicated that despite the recent decline in oil prices following a two-week ceasefire agreement, a significant inflation shock is anticipated. According to Jin10, the economist stated that the ceasefire agreement has eliminated the prospect of an interest rate hike in April, which was always considered unlikely. However, the view remains that the European Central Bank will slightly tighten its policy during the summer. While the market has welcomed the ceasefire, Iran may still restrict traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The economist added that Tehran has learned from this crisis that it can exert substantial pressure on the United States by controlling the strait, and there is no reason for Iran not to leverage this advantage now.
