On April 14, Jin10 reported that Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark stated on Monday that the company is in discussions with the Trump administration regarding its advanced AI model, Mythos. This comes despite the Pentagon halting business with Anthropic following a contract dispute. The disagreement between Anthropic and the Pentagon centers on security constraints related to the military's use of Anthropic's AI tools, leading the Pentagon last month to classify Anthropic as a supply chain risk, thereby prohibiting its contractors from using Anthropic's products.
"We have a narrow contract dispute, but I don't want this to affect our strong focus on national security," said Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark in Washington. "Our position is that the government must understand these technologies... so we are certainly discussing Mythos with them and will communicate about subsequent models."
The nature and details of the negotiations between Anthropic and the U.S. government, including which agencies are involved, remain unclear.
