Global Crypto Regulation Faces Fragmentation Challenges, Says CertiK Co-Founder

CertiK co-founder Gu Ronghui participated in two roundtable forums during the 2026 Paris Blockchain Week, discussing the current state of global crypto regulation and industry development. According to Foresight News, Gu highlighted that while global crypto regulation is gradually advancing, it remains highly fragmented. The significant differences in regional policies and unclear compliance terms pose challenges for businesses. Gu noted that global crypto regulation has entered a phase of regional exploration, yet there are three core gaps in risk awareness, incident detection, and enforcement response among regulatory bodies. He revealed that some projects have suffered multi-million dollar losses due to hacker attacks, which local regulators failed to detect in time, indicating a lack of understanding of both on-chain and off-chain risks. In terms of regional progress, Gu mentioned that Hong Kong has issued its first batch of stablecoin licenses, and Brazil plans to launch a comprehensive compliance framework in October, accelerating the pace of regulatory advancement. Meanwhile, regulatory policies in the UAE and Singapore have recently tightened. Looking ahead, Gu expects the proportion of on-chain finance to continue increasing, necessitating the simultaneous improvement of security and compliance infrastructure in the industry.
