Securitize has announced the appointment of Sunil Sabharwal, an investor and advisor to Blackstone, as well as a former board member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to its board of directors. According to Odaily, Sabharwal served as the U.S. representative to the IMF from 2016 to 2018, a position confirmed by the U.S. Senate, and was awarded the U.S. Treasury Department's Distinguished Service Award. He is currently a board member of Thunes and TookiTaki and has previously chaired payment companies Earthport and Ogone, which were acquired by Visa and Ingenico, respectively. Since 2021, he has been an advisor and operating partner at Blackstone Growth Equity Fund.
Securitize manages over $4 billion in on-chain assets, including tokenized products from institutions such as BlackRock, Apollo, BNY, Hamilton Lane, KKR, and VanEck. Last October, the company reached an acquisition agreement with a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald, valuing Securitize at $1 billion. The merged entity is set to list on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol CEPT.
