A 22-year-old California resident, Evan Tangeman, has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for his involvement in a money laundering operation, according to Foresight News. The case centers around a multi-state criminal group that stole over $263 million in cryptocurrency through social engineering attacks. Tangeman admitted to laundering $3.5 million, assisting in converting cryptocurrency to fiat currency, and renting luxury homes in Los Angeles and Miami for the group's extravagant spending. The illicit funds were used for lavish purchases, including luxury cars, designer watches, and exorbitant nightclub bills. Law enforcement has seized several luxury vehicles connected to the case, and nine individuals have pleaded guilty.
