Belt And Road Summit To Open On September 9-10 In Hong Kong

The 11th Belt and Road Summit, jointly organised by the Hong Kong government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will be held on September 9-10, according to ETNet. This year’s forum will focus on high-quality development and new cooperation opportunities in trade, investment and development across Belt and Road markets and other regions, with a special emphasis on ASEAN, Central Asia and the Middle East. HKTDC vice-president Sophia Chong said Hong Kong remains an important platform for mainland companies going global and a gateway for international firms entering mainland China and Asia. The summit will add a new section on overseas expansion, including themed breakout sessions on global expansion opportunities and Hong Kong’s professional services advantages, a new “GoGlobal” service provider zone, roundtables and a business delegation to Nansha in Guangzhou. The event will also feature a high-level government-business dialogue on the first day, with speakers including Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee, Uruguay Vice President Carolina Cosse, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith and HKTDC chairman Peter Lam. The organisers expect more than 300 investment projects, with total estimated investment of over $3.7 billion, and more than 800 one-on-one project matching meetings. Featured projects include Kazakhstan’s Alatau City and Data Centre Valley, as well as the Ankara-Istanbul High-Speed Rail project in Turkey.
