DOJ Agency U.S. Trustee Representatives Appoint Seven-Person Committee to Represent Unsecured Creditors in Genesis Bankruptcy Case

According to The Block, in the Genesis Global bankruptcy case, the U.S. Trustee, a U.S. Department of Justice agency representing William Harrington, appointed a seven-member committee representing unsecured creditors that will act as a spokesperson for Genesis creditors in court. Among them, Mirana and Digital Finance Group, among the top 50 largest creditors of Genesis, are members of the seven-member committee. In addition, SOF International, cryptocurrency exchange Bitvavo custody and three individual creditors Teddy Andre Amadeo Gorisse, Richard R. Weston and Amelia Alvarez are also members of the committee. Foresight News previously reported that on Jan. 20, CoinDesk reported that Genesis owed cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, trading firm Cumberland, cryptocurrency fund Mirana, Babel Finance parent company MoonAlpha Finance, and VanEck’s New Finance Income Fund, among others. At least $3.5 billion for the top 50 creditors.
