According to the Russian Kommersant report, in the first quarter of this year, Russia ranked second in the world for the first time in terms of electricity consumption for Bitcoin mining, reaching 1 GW, second only to the 3-4 GW of the United States. The top 10 also includes Iran (700 MW), Canada (400 MW), Malaysia (300 MW), Argentina (135 MW), Iceland (120 MW), Paraguay (100-125 MW), Kazakhstan (100 MW) and Ireland (90 MW). Previously, 65% of Bitcoin's total hash rate in 2020 was in China, while the United States and Russia were only 7.2% and 6.9%, respectively.
