The Xuhui District Development and Reform Commission of Shanghai recently released "Several Opinions of Xuhui District on Supporting the Development of the Metaverse (Draft for Comment)", and the deadline for soliciting comments is August 20, 2022. The draft for comments mentions that efforts will be made to strengthen the layout of the "new track" to support the integrated development of metaverse, artificial intelligence, cultural creativity and other advantageous industries in the district, and to help Xuhui create a technology-leading, enterprise-gathering, talent-flowing, rich-scenario-rich, standard Leading and high-quality metaverse industrial ecology. Specifically, the scope of support includes focusing on metaverse underlying technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, digital twins, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things, helping innovative entities such as enterprises to carry out research and development, and promoting enterprises to accelerate the construction of 5G/6G, Metaverse back-end infrastructure such as GPU, interaction, cloudification, Internet of Things, etc. Encourage enterprises to develop and produce virtual hosts, VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality), MR (mixed reality), brain-computer interaction and other metaverse terminal equipment , to support enterprises in social consumption, education and medical care, cultural and sports entertainment, government affairs management and other fields to carry out the construction and production of metaverse scene content that complies with the law. Among them, for enterprises that carry out research and development of key technologies of the metaverse, the total subsidy can be up to 5 million yuan.
