Criminals are posting false job advertisements on social media and online job sites, covering jobs such as tech support, call center customer service and beauty salon technicians, claiming that job seekers will receive competitive salaries, generous benefits, paid travel and accommodation expenses. Once job seekers arrive abroad, criminals use a variety of methods to coerce them into implementing cryptocurrency investment schemes, such as confiscation of passports and travel documents, threats of violence, or outright violence.
