EigenLayer will increase the upper limit of LST, and the Operator test network will be launched in the third quarter

The Ethereum re-pledging protocol EigenLayer announced that it will increase the upper limit of liquid staking tokens (LST), but the relevant protocol parameter changes must be approved by the multi-signature governance system. EigenLayer operations multi-signatures perform routine upgrades and maintenance through timelocks, enforcing a minimum 10-day delay for all security-critical operations, which also means that Operations multi-signatures can lift the cap after July 10. EigenLayer is expected to increase the LST cap during the week of July 10. At that time, the LST cap (including rETH, stETH, and cbETH) will increase to 15,000 tokens (per type of LST), with no personal deposit limit. Once the sum of all LST deposits reaches 30,000 tokens, a moratorium on LST re-staking will be initiated. EigenLayer stated that as the LST cap is increased, the next steps in EigenLayer's roadmap will be explored. The focus remains on enhancing the restaking experience while ensuring security and decentralization. The specific plan is to launch the Operator test network in the third quarter, the Active Verification Service (AVS) test network in the fourth quarter, and the AVS main network is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2024.
