A Turkish court has sentenced the founder of defunct cryptocurrency exchange Thodex, Faruk Fatih Öze, to seven and a half months in prison for failing to provide requested documents to the Tax Inspection Board, Bitcoin.com reported. The court has agreed to postpone the announcement and execution of the judgment. In addition to the tax-related charges, Faruk Fatih Öze was accused of defrauding investors through Thodex. During the trial, Öze maintained his innocence and said he was not a company executive at the time of the crime. Foresight News previously reported that Faruk Fatih Öze was arrested in Albania last August after being accused of defrauding investors of more than $2.7 billion, with more than 400,000 victims, and the exchange closed in May 2021.
