A new report released by blockchain security platform Immunefi found that nearly half of all cryptocurrency losses due to Web3 vulnerabilities in 2022 were due to Web2 security issues such as private key leaks.
The report reviews cryptocurrency exploit incidents in 2022 and divides them into different types of vulnerabilities. The report concluded that the Web3 ecosystem lost a total of US$3,948,856,037 in 2022 (including hacker attacks and suspected fraud incidents), of which 46.48% of the losses were not due to smart contract defects, but from "infrastructure defects" or problems with the development company's computer system. .
