Microsoft wants OpenAI to expand its board of directors, considering adding its executives to the OpenAI board

Microsoft said that if Sam Altman is to return to OpenAI, the governance issues that led to the existing OpenAI board of directors' dismissal of Altman need to be resolved. Changes Microsoft is considering could include requiring OpenAI to expand the size of its board and raise the level of experience required for members, according to people familiar with the matter. Microsoft is also considering whether it should try to add an executive to OpenAI's board. (Bloomberg) According to a previous report by The Verge, multiple sources revealed that Sam Altman’s transfer to Microsoft has not yet been finalized. Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman remain open to returning to OpenAI if the other board members who fired him resign. Altman, Brockman and OpenAI investors are still trying to find a dignified way for the board to step down.
