Binance.US recently sought court approval for multiple lawyers to join its defense team in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) lawsuit against Binance Holdings, Binance US and co-founder Changpeng Zhao.
Five attorneys, Sheehan H. Band, Levi Giovanetto, Daniel J. Davis, Christian Kemnitz, and David Luger, have filed notices of appearance on behalf of BAM Management US Holdings and BAM Trading Services (Binance US) in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. These attorneys have extensive experience representing clients in investigations by the SEC, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), or the Department of Justice (DOJ), as well as in complex class action lawsuits. It is worth noting that Davies was the general counsel of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Separately, the defendants asked Judge Amy Berman Jackson to dismiss the lawsuit, stating that the SEC failed to reasonably allege any investment contract and securities law violations. (coingape)
