Robinson Burkey, co-founder of the Wormhole Foundation, shared some progress made since the W airdrop went online nearly three months ago in an article on X, mentioning that the anti-witch work through Allium for more than 5 months has been successful.
After combing the addresses to prevent witch attacks, 400,000 wallets from 26 different ecosystems met the airdrop conditions. Since Wormhole has been running for more than 3 years, there is a lot of data to process, which took about 4 months. So far, the team has processed 265,476 airdrop claims.
Burkey concluded: "I think the best airdrops are those that users don't expect. However, I think we can no longer go back to that simple era and have to enter the points event and the witch war. The points event is like a tacit understanding between the protocol and the 'new user' that airdrop farming is acceptable.
The question becomes whether the protocol can be well used by farmers for farming. I personally support points programs because they can reduce the workload of the protocol team (i.e. reduce the time associated with anti-witch work)."
