Swiss blockchain venture capital firm CV VC has released its latest report on venture capital in Africa. The report states that Africa received $34.7 million in investment in the first half of 2024, a 74% year-on-year decrease from $135.4 million in 2023.
Despite the sluggish financing, the report states that the number of transactions in the region increased by 9%.
Overall, global blockchain financing has also seen a sharp decline. The report states that the field received $10.66 billion in financing in the first half of 2023, but only $5.74 billion in the same period of 2024, a year-on-year decrease of 64%. There were only 678 transactions in 2024, which was also a 49% decrease compared to 1,306 transactions in the same period of 2023. (Cointelegraph)
