Coinlive reporting at Singapore FinTech Festival 2022 in Singapore. Co-founder and researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, Vitalik Buterin, is present at the session titled “The Great Merge: Rearchitecting Ethereum with Vitalik Buterin".
He kicks off the session with the introduction of the timeline of Ethereum’s Merge ─ from his blog post in January 2014 when he wrote about it, to the highly anticipated Merge this September. He also shares about the Merge’s benefits like the substantial reduction in electricity consumption, lower token issuance requirement, and more.
With the completion of the Merge, the Ethereum Foundation led by Vitalik, is ready to concentrate on other problems. He points out that the vast majority of Earth’s population is not using blockhain, which also includes those who are interacting with crypto. Other problems he recognises are scalability, user experience, security issue, privacy, and account attraction ─ which he already has in mind the appropriate solutions.
Besides the above-mentioned issues which the team is working on, Vitalik’s longer-term goal is to stabilise the Ethereum protocol, which will take time. He assures that scalability, openness, privacy, and users’ and developers’ convenience will be worked on progressively over the next few years.
