According to BlockBeats, a revised court document submitted on November 14 reveals that Elon Musk claimed he vetoed OpenAI's initial coin offering (ICO) plan in 2018.
Musk and his legal team assert that OpenAI's co-founders, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, considered launching a token in early 2018 to help the company generate profit. However, Musk reportedly stated that such a move would significantly damage the credibility of OpenAI and everyone associated with the ICO. Following this, Musk departed from OpenAI in February 2018 and eventually established his own artificial intelligence company, xAI. Meanwhile, the Worldcoin project, supported by Sam Altman, launched its cryptocurrency token WLD in July 2023, although it is officially stated that OpenAI is not connected to Worldcoin.
BlockBeats previously reported that Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its executives, Altman and Brockman, in August, accusing them of fraud, violating the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, and engaging in unfair competition.
