Industry insiders: Bitcoin may become the target of crazy attacks by quantum thieves

Bitcoin's rally faces a risk that most cryptocurrency investors aren't paying attention to: quantum computing, a breakthrough that threatens not only Bitcoin but also traditional finance because many online banking systems use variations of public-key cryptography. But security experts warn that Bitcoin could be a particularly tempting target for quantum thieves. "Bitcoin is going to be a target of crazy attacks," said Skip Sanzeri, co-founder of QuSecure, a startup specializing in quantum-safe network security.
