Elon Musk reiterated his support for Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) in an opinion piece published in Germany's Sunday Welt newspaper, less than two months before the German election.
"Although the AfD is described as far-right, it represents a political realism that resonates with many Germans who feel their concerns are ignored by the establishment. It addresses today's problems without the political correctness that often obscures the truth," Musk wrote in his commentary published on Saturday.
A key adviser to U.S. President-elect Trump, Musk has extensive business interests in Germany, including a Tesla (TSLA.O) factory near Berlin. Musk, who has frequently criticized German bureaucracy, has become more deeply involved in the country's politics in recent weeks. He also previously posted on the social media platform "X" to disparage German Chancellor Scholz and used populist rhetoric to "support" the anti-immigration AfD, which advocated Germany's withdrawal from the European Union and the eurozone during its campaign.
