After American entrepreneur Elon Musk recently made remarks in the German media in support of the German Alternative for Germany party, German government spokespersons and politicians believed that he openly interfered in the elections for the Bundestag, the lower house of the German parliament, scheduled for February 2025. The Alternative for Germany is regarded as a far-right party in Germany, and its chairman Alice Weidel will compete for the position of German Chancellor.
Musk recently published an article in the German media to support the Alternative for Germany. "Germany is at a crossroads, and its future faces economic and cultural collapse." Musk wrote, "As someone who has made huge investments in German industry and technology, I am qualified to speak publicly about Germany's political path. The Alternative for Germany is the country's last ray of hope... It can lead the country to economic prosperity, cultural integrity and technological innovation. This will not only be hope, but will become a reality." German government spokesperson Christiane Huffman said on December 30 that Musk's remarks "are indeed an example of trying to influence the (German) federal election." (Jinshi)
