Fidelity: The relationship between Layer 2 and Ethereum is mutually beneficial

Fidelity Digital Assets said in its 2025 Outlook that the Rollup-centric roadmap aims to scale Ethereum while keeping the Layer 1 blockchain easy to run. However, since the Deneb-Cancun upgrade, there has been increasing discussion about this decision as Layer 1 fees have dropped significantly. Although, in the short term, revenue from the Blob market is unlikely to make up for the significant reduction in revenue from previous upgrades, it still has positive benefits in the long term by enhancing network effects. Many investors who focus on cash flow may think that Layer 2 extracts value, but the relationship between Layer 2 and Ethereum is mutually beneficial. The base layer benefits from providing cheap transaction execution services through Layer 2 and further promoting the distribution of Ethereum tokens while being able to maintain the core concept of decentralization.
