Odaily Planet Daily News Siberian power company Irkutsk Energosbyt said it would sue about 400 "illegal" cryptocurrency miners, saying that illegal miners in the state have stolen $6.3 million worth of electricity from the power grid.
The company has filed 2,113 lawsuits against individual miners in the past five years, accusing them of "illegal use of electricity for cryptocurrency mining", and is hunting down so-called "gray" miners, that is, "installing mining machines in non-predetermined locations", most of whom install mining machines in "garages, private homes, apartment balconies and garden plots", which may cause accidents to power lines in Siberia.
