According to Odaily, senior Democratic lawmakers from Massachusetts, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Jacob Auchincloss, have raised concerns about the potential national security risks associated with the cryptocurrency issued by the Trump family. They caution that the largely anonymous global cryptocurrency market could enable foreign actors to purchase significant amounts of TRUMP or MELANIA tokens, potentially influencing the U.S. government.
In addition to financial risks, the lawmakers highlight the possibility that the issuance of these meme coins by the Trump family might violate the Constitution's Emoluments Clause. This clause prohibits government officials from accepting payments or gifts from foreign entities without congressional approval. In a letter, Warren and Auchincloss expressed their concerns, stating that "almost anyone in the world can purchase these tokens, raising fears that foreign individuals and governments could use them to influence President Trump and his family."
