Odaily Planet Daily News Illinois has become the latest state in the United States to advance a Bitcoin strategic reserve bill. House Bill 1844 (HB1844), proposed by Illinois Representative John Cabello, proposes to establish a strategic Bitcoin (BTC) reserve as a "special fund in the state treasury for holding Bitcoin as a financial asset."
It is worth noting that according to the document, the bill proposes to hold Bitcoin for at least five years after the fund is created. After the five-year holding period, the treasury will be allowed to "transfer, sell, misappropriate or convert any Bitcoin in the fund into another cryptocurrency." (Cointelegraph)
