7 British gang members sentenced to prison for blackmailing a cryptocurrency investor

Odaily Planet Daily News Seven British gang members were convicted and sentenced to prison for kidnapping, torturing and extorting a cryptocurrency investor. The victim was targeted several times over a period of several months, attacked and forced to transfer 100,000 pounds (about 124,152 U.S. dollars) worth of cryptocurrency. The incident began in January 2023, when the victim encountered a man at home asking him to transfer cryptocurrency. Fearing for his life, the victim transferred the funds to gang member Scott Armstrong. Later that month, David Povey and another man came again, this time carrying a knife, forcing the victim to hand over more funds. The victim chose to comply in order to stop the harassment.
